Michael impregnates Helen with a tacit agreement that he will eventually marry her. Engulfed by events in the city, he reneges on his promise, rather turning to another lady (Edith) whose father helped his establish a career path for courtship. Helen is shorked by the sudden news of Michaels' action, attempting to commit suicide as a result. But upon serious counseling, she reclines and travels to the city in search of her baby father, a child Michael is vehemently denying responsibility.
